.. a dessert with apples that screams autumn and sweet awakening. In fact, this morning I gave it a slight warm-up and I swear.. better than breakfast at the café! I used golden apples because they were what I had and needed to use up. Also great with pears!
Cut the apples into thin slices. I used them with the peel on after washing them well.
Place them in a bowl with the sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice and mix well.
At this point, unroll the pastry and place it on a baking tray. Prick it with a fork and spread it evenly with jam... I used an orange and lemon one.
Now arrange the apple slices. If the pastry is round, arrange them in a radial pattern... if it's rectangular like mine, alternate the direction of each row to create a nicer effect.
Add the walnuts here and there and finally a pinch of brown sugar to further caramelize the surface of the apples.
Bake at 180 degrees for about 25 minutes, checking often. A pleasant discovery for those who, like us, love apple desserts.
A baking tray
It keeps perfectly for a couple of days well sealed. If desired, it can also be slightly warmed in the oven before eating.
Instead of puff pastry, you can also use shortcrust pastry.
