Description
Porto Sandeman White is a wine produced in the Douro region of Portugal, one of the oldest and most renowned wine regions in the world, declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. This region is characterized by a continental climate with hot summers and cold winters, and predominantly schist soils, ideal for vine cultivation. Porto Sandeman White is mainly produced from native Portuguese grapes, including Malvasia Fina, Viosinho, and Gouveio. These grapes are grown in terraced vineyards that stretch along the steep slopes of the Douro valleys, a spectacular landscape that contributes to creating wines of great character and complexity. The production process of Porto Sandeman White begins with the harvest, which usually takes place between September and October. The grapes are hand-picked and transported to the winery, where they are crushed and left to ferment in stainless steel tanks. Fermentation is interrupted by the addition of aguardente vinica, a wine distillate, which gives Porto its typical sweetness and high alcohol content. After fermentation, the wine is transferred to large oak barrels, where the aging process begins. Porto Sandeman White is aged for a period of 2-3 years, during which it acquires its typical golden color and complex aromas of dried fruit, honey, and spices. In terms of food pairings, Porto Sandeman White is an extremely versatile wine. It can be served as an aperitif, accompanied by toasted almonds or olives, or it can be paired with fish dishes, aged cheeses, or fruit-based desserts. Thanks to its sweetness and complexity, it is also an excellent meditation wine, to be savored slowly at the end of a meal. Pairings: Porto Sandeman White is a sweet and fruity Portuguese wine, with good acidity that makes it fresh and pleasant on the palate. These characteristics make it a very versatile wine in terms of food pairings. A classic pairing for Porto Sandeman White is with cheeses. This wine pairs particularly well with soft and creamy cheeses, such as Brie or Camembert, but also with hard and aged cheeses, such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino. Another interesting pairing is with seafood. Porto Sandeman White, thanks to its acidity, manages to balance the saltiness of seafood, creating a perfect balance between flavors. As for desserts, Porto Sandeman White pairs beautifully with fruit-based desserts, such as fruit tarts or spoon desserts with fresh fruit. Additionally, it can be an excellent accompaniment for white chocolate-based desserts, which highlight the wine's sweetness. Finally, Porto Sandeman White can be an excellent aperitif wine, to be paired with light snacks like olives, chips, and dried fruit.
