Description
Valpolicella Valpantena Bertani is a red wine produced in the Valpantena area, located in the northern part of the Veneto region, northwest of Verona. This area is characterized by a temperate climate and limestone soils that give the wine its distinctive characteristics. The vineyards used for the production of Valpolicella Valpantena Bertani are located at an altitude between 200 and 300 meters above sea level. The grapes used for this wine are mainly Corvina Veronese, Rondinella, and Molinara, native varieties of the area. Corvina Veronese is the main grape used and gives the wine structure, depth, and complexity, while Rondinella adds fruity notes and Molinara contributes freshness and acidity. The production process of Valpolicella Valpantena Bertani involves traditional fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by maceration on the skins for about 8-10 days. Subsequently, the wine is aged in large oak barrels for about 6 months, followed by further aging in the bottle before being marketed. The result is a wine with a bright ruby red color, with intense and complex aromas of red fruits, spices, and floral notes. On the palate, it is balanced, with good structure and soft tannins, making it versatile and suitable to pair with a variety of dishes, from pasta to meat to pizza. Pairings: Valpolicella Valpantena Bertani is a full-bodied and structured red wine, with good acidity and soft tannins. These characteristics make it very versatile in terms of food pairings. A first pairing I suggest is with red meat dishes, such as a nice grilled beef fillet or a braised beef in red wine. The structure of the wine pairs well with the texture of the meat, while the acidity helps balance the fat. Another interesting pairing is with aged cheeses, such as Parmigiano Reggiano or Pecorino Toscano. The intense and salty flavor of the cheese is balanced by the softness and fruitiness of the wine. Finally, Valpolicella Valpantena Bertani can also be paired with mushroom-based dishes, such as porcini risotto or pasta with mushroom sauce. The earthy flavor of the mushrooms pairs well with the red fruit and spice notes of the wine. Always remember that wine-food pairings are very subjective and also depend on personal preferences. So, don't hesitate to experiment and find the pairings you like best. Storage: Store in a cool, dry place Alcohol content: 12.5% Vintage: 2024 Denomination: Valpolicella Valpantena DOC
