Nino Negri - Sfursat 5 Stelle 2018 | Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG

The Sfursat 5 Stelle 2018 is born in the heart of Valtellina, on the slopes of the Rhaetian Alps, along the right bank of the Adda River, in Lombardy. The vineyards, located between 350 and 450 meters above sea level, thrive on sandy and silty soils, rich in skeleton, which give the wine elegance and complexity. This area represents one of the highest expressions of heroic Italian viticulture. Cultivation practices The Nebbiolo grapes, locally known as Chiavennasca, are hand-picked and carefully selected to ensure only the best. The best bunches are left to dry naturally in the fruit cellar for about three months, during which they lose 30-40% of their weight, concentrating sugars, aromas, and structure. Technical characteristics Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) Vinification: The dried grapes undergo a three-day cryo-maceration, followed by a twelve-day fermentation at a controlled temperature. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place in new French barriques. Aging: The wine matures for 20 months in French oak barriques, with a subsequent bottle aging of at least six months. Alcohol content: 16% Awards and recognitions 95 points - James Suckling: "Elegant with notes of dried fruit, sweet spices, and a vibrant finish." 94 points - Wine Spectator: "Intense, harmonious, with hints of dried cherry and licorice." 5 Grappoli - Bibenda 3 Glasses - Gambero Rosso Tasting notes Color: Intense garnet red with bright reflections. Aromas: Broad and complex bouquet, with dried plums, figs, cocoa, black pepper, and delicate balsamic notes. Taste: Full, vigorous, and enveloping, with velvety tannins and balanced sapidity. The finish is long, with returns of dried fruit and spices. Food pairings This Sfursat 5 Stelle is ideal for accompanying structured and intense dishes: Braised and stewed meats. Oven-baked game, such as deer or wild boar. Lamb roasts with aromatic herbs. Aged cheeses, such as Bitto or 36-month Parmigiano Reggiano. Perfect also with a selection of Valtellina cured meats for an authentic territorial pairing. Curiosities The term "Sfursat," which means "forced" in the Valtellina dialect, refers to the grape drying technique, an ancient practice that gives the wine its unique structure and concentration. The Sfursat 5 Stelle is produced only in exceptional vintages, representing the qualitative pinnacle of the Nino Negri winery and a symbol of excellence for the entire Valtellina. An extraordinary wine, combining tradition and innovation, offering a high-level sensory experience.
