Nino Negri - Sfursat Carlo Negri 2019 | Sforzato di Valtellina DOCG

This extraordinary wine originates from the historic terraces of Valtellina, along the slopes of the Retiche Alps, on the right bank of the Adda River, in Lombardy. The vineyards, located between 350 and 500 meters above sea level, are cultivated on sandy and silty soils, enriched with a good presence of skeleton, ideal for enhancing the peculiarities of Nebbiolo (locally known as Chiavennasca). Cultivation practices The grapes, hand-picked and carefully selected, undergo natural drying in the fruit room, a process made possible by the fresh and dry winds of the Alps. This traditional method concentrates sugars and aromas, giving the wine a unique structure and complexity. The Nino Negri company uses sustainable practices, reducing sulfites and adopting low environmental impact agricultural techniques, such as the use of cover crops to improve soil fertility and eco-friendly packaging to reduce environmental impact. Technical characteristics Grape variety: 100% Nebbiolo (Chiavennasca) Vinification: After drying, the grapes are pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Fermentation is followed by prolonged maceration to extract color and tannins. Aging: 20 months in Slavonian oak barrels and French oak barriques, followed by 6 months of aging in the bottle. Alcohol content: 16% Tasting notes Color: Intense and bright garnet red. Aroma: Broad and complex bouquet, with dried plum, blackcurrant, spicy hints of cinnamon, and notes of licorice and ripe red fruits. Taste: Dry, warm, and harmonious, with velvety tannins and impeccable aromatic persistence recalling red fruits and spices. Food pairings The Sfursat Carlo Negri 2019 pairs beautifully with robust and flavorful dishes: Roasted red meats and game. Braised and stewed dishes with red wine. Aged cheeses, such as Bitto or 36-month Parmigiano Reggiano. Also perfect as a meditation wine, served with a piece of dark chocolate or on its own for a moment of pure pleasure. Curiosities The term "Sfursat" means "forced" in the Valtellina dialect, referring to the grape drying technique that characterizes this wine. The Sfursat Carlo Negri represents the pinnacle of Valtellina's winemaking tradition, combining the power of Nebbiolo with the elegance typical of mountain wines, for an unforgettable sensory experience. A wine that encapsulates the essence of a unique territory and the knowledge of generations of winemakers.
