Wash and pit the cherries
Break the eggs into a bowl and beat them lightly; add the salt and the sugar and mix everything thoroughly
Sift the flour into the mixture and blend to obtain a smooth, homogeneous batter
Melt half of the butter, pour it into the bowl, mix again and add the milk
Grease a baking dish with butter and arrange the cherries on the bottom
Pour the mixture into the baking dish, sprinkle the surface with small pieces of butter and bake in a moderate oven (200°C) for 40-45 minutes
Remove the dessert from the oven and sprinkle it with vanilla sugar before serving
Serve still warm
