Chiacchiere, also known as Frappe or Cenci in other regions of Italy, are traditional fried sweets of Carnival. They are crispy, light, and covered with powdered sugar. Perfect to enjoy during the festive season!
Sift the flour with the sugar, make a well on the floured board, and in the center pour the softened butter in pieces, the eggs, and the Marsala
Knead and roll out a thin sheet like that of tagliatelle
From the sheet, cut rectangles of about 8x12 cm and in the center of each make 3 cuts with the fluted wheel, leaving the ends joined
Twist each chiacchiera irregularly
Put a pot half full of lard on the fire
When it is hot, put the chiacchiere in a few at a time and let them brown well on each side; drain them on absorbent paper and serve sprinkled with powdered sugar
