Chiacchiere, also called Frappe or Cenci in other regions of Italy, are traditional fried sweets for Carnival. They are crunchy, light and covered with powdered sugar. Ideal to enjoy during the festive season!

Sift the flour with the sugar, make a well on the floured work surface and in the center add the soft butter in pieces, the eggs and the Vino Marsala
Knead the dough and roll it out into a sheet as thin as tagliatelle pasta
Cut the sheet into rectangles of about 8x12 cm and make three cuts in the center of each with a fluted wheel, leaving the ends attached
Twist each chiacchiera into an irregular shape
Place a pot on the heat filled halfway with lard
When it is boiling, add the chiacchiere a few at a time and brown them well on all sides; drain them on paper towels and serve dusted with powdered sugar
