Grapefruit and orange marmalade is a traditional homemade sweet, perfect for spreading on slices of bread or filling cakes and cookies. The recipe dates back to ancient times and is made using only fresh grapefruits and oranges, which give the marmalade a balanced citrus flavor. Preparing it requires only a few steps and few ingredients, but the result is a marmalade with an intense and genuine taste.
Peel 3 grapefruits, first removing the outer part and then the inner white part, which you will soak separately
Cut the rest of the fruit into pieces and soak it covered with water
Squeeze the juice of 3 large oranges, cut the rest into pieces, soak it overnight, and bring to a boil
Drain and add to the grapefruit pieces
Add more water as needed to cover and boil until the fruit is softened
Add the orange juice, weigh, and add an equal amount of sugar
Boil, stirring occasionally, until the marmalade is ready
Pour it still warm into jars, let cool, and seal as previously indicated
If you do not plan to use the marmalade immediately, you can also seal the jars by dripping liquid wax along the edge of the lid
