Pear jam is a delicious and versatile sweet treat, perfect for spreading on slices of bread or for enriching desserts and cakes. The pears are cooked slowly with sugar, orange, and cinnamon to achieve a soft texture and rich flavor. This jam can be made during the fall when pears are in season and particularly tasty.
Wash and peel the pears, remove the core and seeds, and cut them into pieces
Place them in a stainless steel pot with a bit of cinnamon and the grated peel of the orange, cover with a glass of water, and cook for 15 minutes
At this point, add the sugar, mix, and continue cooking for about an hour
As soon as it reaches the right consistency, turn off the heat and transfer the jam into glass jars
Note: healthy and ripe fruit should be used, avoiding washing it too many times in water, instead wipe it with a clean cloth; for cooking, prefer high-sided stainless steel pots as this process is slow and very long; for glass containers, maximum care and cleanliness must be taken, and they must be airtight; finally, if the jam molds on the surface, remove that part, clean the jar, and cover with 90-degree liquor alcohol.
