Marsala Vergine Soleras DOC Wine from Sicily Package: 6 bottles of 0.75 lt. Close your eyes for a moment and let the wind caress you and the sun warm you, breathe in the air around you, filled with scents: that of the sea, of Mediterranean vegetation, of the earth. You can't be mistaken... You are in Marsala, the “land of wine” where our Marsala Vergine Soleras DOC Wine from Sicily is produced. No other Italian city can boast such a varied wine production. With wit and foresight, the English who landed here in the 1700s quickly realized that very similar to the Spanish and Portuguese fortified wines could be made from the local grapes: that wine which then became famous worldwide under the name “Marsala”. In this land filled with vines, in 1997 our three families of winemakers decided to take over the brand “Cantine Vinci”, producer of Marsala Vergine Soleras DOC Wine from Sicily, and thus began a new adventure that saw them as architects in transforming their grapes into wines of constant and undisputed quality. Transitioning from simple growers to winemakers was not easy, but the experience passed down from father to son for several generations helped us understand which bunches to use to obtain the best quality wine, what were the most suitable times for grape harvest, and which soils could best enhance the physiological and vegetative-productive properties of the different cultivars. Producing precious grapes has thus become the cornerstone from which to produce wines of excellent quality such as Marsala Vergine Soleras DOC Wine from Sicily. Over time, the wisdom, the willingness to learn, and the goal of producing great wines have been recognized and rewarded. Today, Cantine Vinci can boast important accolades received for the production of wines that, once tasted, are hard to forget. Characteristics: Grapes: Grillo (50%) and Catarratto (50%). Production area: Agro marsalese (as per regulation 851 of 28/11/1984). Training system: Espalier with Guyot pruning. Harvesting period: August/September. Vinification: In stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature (25/26°C); once the base wine is obtained, vinous alcohol is added before starting a long aging and storage period in oak barrels for at least 5 years. Color: Ancient gold with amber hues. Odor: Complex and ethereal bouquet, characterized mainly by slightly herbaceous, woody, and spicy notes of vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, and also of nuts, toasted almonds, dried figs, ground coffee, and tobacco. Taste: Dry, crisp, powerful, with great structure and alcoholic character, with a full correspondence of the sensations perceived by the nose that linger long in the mouth. Alcohol content: 19% vol. Sugar residual: 30 grams/liter. Wood aging: Minimum 5 years in oak barrels. Bottle aging: Minimum 6 months. Pairings: Incomparable meditation wine, best enjoyed with typical dry almond sweets like tagliancozzi, although it pairs very well with ricotta and cream desserts from Sicilian pastry; also worth trying with Modica dark chocolate, strong aged cheeses, and, for those who wish, also with Tuscan cigars. Serving temperature: 14/16°C. Available bottle format: 750 ml. Marsala Vergine Soleras DOC Wine from Sicily in our online store.
