Description
The Syrah di Cortona DOC Achelo La Braccesca is a red wine of great structure and intensity, produced in the Cortona area of Tuscany. This region is famous for its winemaking tradition and the quality of its wines, thanks to an ideal soil and climate for vine cultivation. The production area covers about 340 hectares, located between the hills of Cortona and Montepulciano. The soil is predominantly clayey, with the presence of skeleton and gravel, characteristics that give the wine a particular minerality and structure. The Syrah grapes used for the production of this wine come from 15-20 year old vines, cultivated in espalier with a density of about 5,000 plants per hectare. Harvesting generally takes place at the end of September, when the grapes have reached optimal ripeness. The winemaking process involves maceration of the grapes for about 15-20 days at a controlled temperature of 28-30°C. This is followed by malolactic fermentation in stainless steel. Aging takes place in French oak barriques for about 12 months, followed by a further period of aging in the bottle. The Syrah di Cortona DOC Achelo La Braccesca presents an intense ruby red color. On the nose, it offers notes of ripe red fruit, spices, and vanilla, while on the palate it is full, soft, and persistent, with well-integrated tannins. This wine pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses. It is a wine that can be enjoyed immediately, but also has good aging potential. Pairings: The Syrah di Cortona DOC Achelo La Braccesca is an intense and structured red wine, with notes of ripe red fruit, spices, and a touch of vanilla. This wine has good acidity and soft tannins, making it very versatile in terms of food pairings. A classic pairing for this wine would be with red meats, such as a nice grilled beef fillet or a braised dish. The rich flavor and texture of the meat pair well with the structure and complexity of the wine. Another interesting pairing could be with aged cheeses, such as Pecorino Toscano. The intense and salty flavor of the cheese pleasantly contrasts with the sweetness of the fruit in the wine. Finally, if you prefer a pairing with a typical Tuscan dish, you might try the Syrah di Cortona DOC Achelo La Braccesca with a dish of pappardelle with wild boar. The robust and wild flavor of the boar pairs well with the spicy and fruity notes of the wine. Storage: Store between 14-18°C Alcohol content: 14.5% Vintage: 2023 Denomination: Cortona DOC
