Amaro Montenegro was born in Bologna in 1885 from the rebellious genius of the young Stanislao Cobianchi in homage to Princess Elena of Montenegro, future queen of Italy. D'Annunzio praised it, defining it as "liqueur of virtues". To create Amaro Montenegro, 40 aromatic herbs are selected, particularly spices, dried fruit, roots, seeds, barks, citrus peels, rhizomes, flowers, and woods from the four corners of the world.
