Founded in 2004 in Oregon, House Spirits Distillery is one of the leading representatives of the craft distilling movement in America and is located in the heart of the Portland distillery district. The award-winning products are inspired by a passion for quality spirits and delicious cocktails. Using ingredients from ethically sustainable sources, the spirits are handcrafted under the careful watch of the head distiller and skilled bartenders who collaborate on the project. Aviation American Gin, the most famous product of this distillery, was born in the summer of 2005, at a small party in Seattle. Professional bartender Ryan Magarian received a complex summer botanical infusion from a friend in Portland. Finding it unlike anything he had ever tasted, he soon set out to find the producer, House Spirits Distillery. Realizing they shared a common interest in spirits, cocktails, and food pairings, the distillers at House Spirits agreed with Ryan on the idea of creating a somewhat heretical regional style of gin. In June 2006, after nearly 30 attempts, Aviation Gin was born. Many believe it was the first collaboration between distillers and bartenders in American history.
