The estate, located between Siena and Firenze along the Via Cassia and not far from the old walls of Staggia Senese, is Montalpruno: a 19th-century Tuscan farmhouse that was bought and completely renovated in the 1980s by the Tosi family. Today Montalpruno is an agriturismo and a winery. Ten hectares are planted with vineyards, mainly with indigenous varieties but also small portions of international grape varieties that have found suitable soils and a favorable microclimate here. The Secolare is a Merlot and Ciliegiolo blend, aged for 18 months in used barriques, while the newest addition to the estate is a single-varietal Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of wild berries and licorice, full-bodied and structured, produced in only 1,200 numbered bottles.
