It was during the period when these areas were Roman colonies that the term Cesanese was coined, as the variety was cultivated in the caesae, which are the "places with cut trees". The DOCG designation "Cesanese del Piglio", unique to the Lazio region, is reserved for the red wine obtained from the grapes of Cesanese di Affile. Variety Origin: Cesanese d’Affile and Cesanese. Soil type: in the Piglio area, the soils are attributable to red earths, a color due to the presence of iron and aluminum oxides. Training system: bilateral guyot. Year: 2022.
