
This extraordinary Dark Red DOC Colli Orientali del Friuli by Scubla is the result of selecting the best grapes of Merlot for 90% with a balance of overripe Refosco dal peduncolo rosso. The true top of the range of Scubla reds! Grapes: 80% Merlot, 20% Refosco dal peduncolo rosso. Location and vineyards: marl hilly soils; selection of the best grapes harvested after normal ripening, more prominently for the Refosco. The selection takes place based on the degree of ripeness and coloration of the bunches. Training is double overturned (cappuccina) modified. Harvest: manual, after mid-October; 55-60 quintals per hectare. Vinification: fermentation occurs in steel for about 16 days of contact with the skins, after racking the wine matures for about 18 months in barriques and tonneaux of French oak 50% new and 50% of different ages, then for another 10 assembled in steel, followed by bottling aging for 3 months. Acidity: 4.6 g/l Year: 2012 Alcohol percentage: 14 %.
