The Syrah IGT Lazio 2022 from the Vinea Domini line is a red wine from a historic grape variety from across the Alps, a result of the cultural exchange between European nations that began with the expansion of the Roman Empire and that today allows us to appreciate the complexity of this type of grape in the territory of the Castelli Romani. This grape variety has origins in Persia, in the city of Schiraz, from where it arrived in our country in ancient times, through the city of Siracusa. DNA analyses have indicated affinities with the grape varieties of Trentino-Alto Adige Teroldengo and Lagrein, although the maximum expression of varietal traits is achieved in the central-southern regions of Italy, as well as in the Rhône Valley, California, South Africa, and Australia. Variety Origin: Grape variety originating from the Middle East, today it is more commonly found in the Rhône Valley, California, and Australia, where it is called Shiraz. Genetically, Syrah is generous in terms of productivity and cluster size. Soil type: volcanic and tuff clay. Training system: spurred cordon. Exclusive viticultural practices: Leaf removal during flowering to induce flower drop and grape thinning during veraison. Exposed the clusters to the sun to promote aromatic synthesis. Exclusive enological practices: Cold pre-fermentation maceration at 10°C for 12 hours to enhance the dissolution of aromatic compounds. Numerous pump-overs and délestage during alcoholic fermentation. Immediate racking. Year: 2022. Alcohol content: 13.5%.
