The Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso DOC Strada Campiona from Cantina Nepos Villae represents a dedication from the Ruffo family to the ancient Roman road where the Quintarelli Ruffo villa and the family's properties have stood for centuries. A connecting route between valleys, that of Negrar and that of Valpantena. A furrow created by man and never lost. The Strada Campiona is featured in ancient medieval maps and, in particular, in that of 1746 by engineer Cristofoli, where its importance and significance for the territory are highlighted. A bit of a symbol of a journey, that of the Ruffo and Nepos Villae, through the centuries and into the future, among vineyards, wine, and authentic Valpolicella. CHARACTERISTICS Production area: Negrar Valley, classic Valpolicella. Grape blend: Gentle Corvina, Large Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara. Harvest: By hand with grapes placed in crates during the second week of September. A portion of the grapes was subjected to drying for a period of 40 days. Crushing: Soft in horizontal press at low temperature. Fermentation: Winemaking in steel at controlled temperature and subsequent light cryomaceration with manual punchdowns. Aging: After red winemaking, the wine is repassed over the pomace of the Amarone of the following year and a period of contact with the skins of about 30 days is applied. After applying the Ripasso technique, the wine is racked and aged in large French oak barrels from Allier and Troncais for 18 months. Subsequently, the wine is left to mature in bottles for about 6 months before being released on the market. Alcohol volume: 14.5%.
