Delicious and fragrant, candied orange peels are perfect to accompany a dessert or to be enjoyed on their own. Easy to prepare and very versatile, they keep for a long time and add a touch of citrus to any occasion.
Wash and clean the oranges. Cut the orange peel to the desired size: cubes, strips, wide strips. Then, soak them for 5-7 days at room temperature to remove the bitterness.
After the resting period, drain the peels and prepare a syrup with water and sugar in a non-stick pan.
Add the peels and let them simmer over low heat for about 15-20 minutes, until they thicken and become shiny and caramelized.
Place the peels on a tray or baking sheet and let them cool and dry for about an hour. Once ready, they are ready to be enjoyed.

Store the candied orange peels in an airtight jar, in a cool place, away from light, for about 6 months. Alternatively, they can be stored in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
Candied peels can also be served dipped in melted chocolate for an extra touch of indulgence. It is recommended to roll them in sugar before enjoying.
