Royal Paste is a typical Sicilian dessert made with almond flour and sugar, perfect for holidays.
Dough preparation: In a bowl, mix the almond flour with the powdered sugar.
Adding liquid ingredients: Add the honey, bitter almond essence, and water. Mix well until you get a homogeneous dough.
Forming the dough block: Work the dough with your hands until you form a compact block.
Resting: Wrap the block in plastic wrap and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least 10 hours.
Preparing the sweets: After resting, you can use the dough to create your favorite sweets, such as almond pastries. Shape small balls or other desired shapes and decorate them with dried or candied fruit.
Baking: Place the sweets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 10-15 minutes, until they are lightly golden.
Store in a cool, dry place.
For additional decoration, you can use cocoa powder or icing. It is recommended to serve them with a sweet Sicilian wine.
