Apple fritters are a delicious and soft dessert, made with tart apples, lemon juice, rum, granulated sugar, cinnamon, and flavored with powdered vanilla sugar. They are perfect to enjoy warm, perhaps accompanied by a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Peel the apples, core them, cut them into slices 1 cm thick, soak them with lemon juice and rum, and sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
Dip the apple slices in a pastry batter and fry them at 170 degrees in plenty of hot shortening until they turn golden.
Drain them and sprinkle with powdered vanilla sugar.
Optionally, you can serve the fritters garnished with apricot jam or a bit of fruit sauce.
