Carnival Bomboloni are soft and delicious fried dough balls typically filled with pastry cream. Traditional in Italy, they are an irresistible sweet to enjoy during Carnival. Their preparation requires a few simple ingredients but the result is a triumph of taste.
On the work surface arrange the flour in a well, add the yeast dissolved in a little warm water, the other ingredients (make sure the margarine is soft, not melted!), and finally enough milk to obtain a soft dough
Knead the dough for about a quarter of an hour, then cover it and let it rise in a warm place until it has doubled in size
Work it again for a few minutes, form small rolls and let them rest covered for about half an hour
Heat the oil in a pan with fairly high sides, press the rolls slightly with your hands and fry them in very hot oil, well on both sides
Finally sprinkle them with sugar
