Carnival fritters are delicious traditional Italian sweets prepared during the Carnival period. They are soft and aromatic, with sultana raisins softened in rum that give them a unique flavor. Once ready, the fritters are dusted with powdered sugar and served hot. A true indulgence to enjoy with company!
Dissolve the yeast with a little flour, sugar and milk and let it rise in a warm place
In a bowl mix the flour, eggs, butter, sugar and lemon zest, a pinch of salt, the lukewarm milk and finally the yeast
Mix well and for a long time, then add the raisins and the rum
Fry by spoonfuls in hot oil, shaking the pan so the fritters puff up on all sides
As soon as fried, place them on paper to absorb excess fat and dust them with powdered sugar
