Cinnamon Fritters are delicious fried sweets typical of Italian tradition. Made with a soft batter enriched with rice, milk and sugar and flavored with cinnamon, these fritters are perfect to enjoy as an appetizer or dessert. Their irresistible cinnamon aroma and flavor make them an unforgettable treat. The fritters are served dusted with powdered sugar and accompanied by a delicious strawberry jam or a splash of Curacao or other orange liqueur.
Rinse the raisins, transfer them to a cup and pour over the rum
Heat the milk and as soon as it boils add the sugar, stir and add the rice, then cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the milk has been absorbed and the rice is dry
Turn off the heat and add the grated zest of half a lemon, the sifted flour and baking powder, mix and incorporate the eggs and the rum-soaked raisins
In a pot, heat plenty of peanut oil
Once it's hot, cook the rice mixture by spoonfuls
Adjust the temperature so the fritters don't become too dark
As soon as they are golden on one side, flip them and finish cooking
When cooked, drain them and place on absorbent paper; dust with ground cinnamon and powdered sugar
Serve with strawberry sauce made as follows: put the jam (or rather the preserve) in a saucepan with 2 tablespoons of water and 2 tablespoons of orange liqueur, heat the sauce and put it into small bowls so each person can help themselves
