The French Toast, also known as pain perdu or pane perduto, is a delicious dish of French origin. It consists of slices of pancarré soaked in a mixture of eggs, sugar, cinnamon and milk, which are then cooked in a pan until golden. Perfect to enjoy as a starter or for an indulgent breakfast.

Beat an egg with a level tablespoon of sugar, plenty of cinnamon and a little milk to form a smooth batter
Dip two slices of pancarré into the egg mixture, making sure they soak well (they should absorb almost all of it!), then fry them until nicely browned
