Fried zucchini and mozzarella is a tasty appetizer typical of Italian cuisine. The zucchini are cut into rounds, dipped in milk flavored with nutmeg, breaded, and fried until golden. The melty interior and the crispiness of the breading make this dish irresistible.
Peel the zucchini, remove the ends, cut them into six parts lengthwise, then cut the pieces into 2 cm chunks
In a deep dish, place the zucchini pieces, sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg, and lightly pepper
Drizzle everything with milk and let it rest for at least thirty minutes
After this time, pour some flour into a deep dish, add a little salt and pepper, and mix
Drain the zucchini pieces, dry them carefully with paper towels, and lightly flour them
Heat the oil for frying to 180 degrees
If you don't have a thermostat, check the temperature by throwing a piece of bread crumb into the oil: it should brown in a minute
Then immerse the zucchini in the oil and let them cook for two minutes until they are well browned, then drain them on paper towels
Keep warm
In a deep dish, beat the egg using a fork
Pass the eight slices of mozzarella in the flour, then dip them in the beaten egg, and then in the breadcrumbs
Fry them in hot oil and in a different pan from the one in which you fried the zucchini pieces
When it is golden on both sides, drain it and let it dry on a sheet of paper towel
Combine the zucchini and mozzarella on a serving dish and serve hot
You can serve this dish along with other fried and hot appetizers
