Preheat the oven to 200 degrees (thermostat 6)
Clean the cabbage, wash it, and cut it into strips
Cook it in a pot of boiling water until tender
Drain it and add the juniper berries
Melt 30 g of butter in a small pan, add the flour, and stir over low heat for about two minutes
Remove from heat and gradually add milk and cream while stirring
Return to heat and cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the béchamel thickens
Season with salt, pepper, nutmeg, and chili pepper
Grease a porcelain baking dish with 15 g of butter
Mix the cabbage and béchamel and pour everything into the dish
Sprinkle the preparation with grated cheese mixed with breadcrumbs and the remaining butter in small pieces
Bake and cook for fifteen minutes
Then increase the oven temperature to 230 degrees (thermostat 7) and cook for another ten minutes until the surface is golden brown
