

The Maritozzi of Lent are traditional sweets from Roman cuisine. They are soft sweet buns filled with sultana raisins, pine nuts, candied orange zest and sugar. Perfect to enjoy during Lent or whenever you want a traditional and indulgent treat.


Roll out the bread dough; add the oil, the sugar, the candied orange zest, the pine nuts and the sultana raisins already soaked in warm water
Work the dough until it is elastic and firm
Form small rolls and place them spaced apart on a greased baking sheet
Let rise until their volume doubles, then bake in a preheated oven at 200°C for 20 minutes
