Meatballs in tomato sauce are delicious meatballs made with ground beef and sausage, flavored with garlic, parsley and Parmigiano cheese. They are cooked in a tasty tomato sauce enriched with onion, basil, olive oil, salt and pepper. This dish is full of flavor and represents a classic first course of Italian tradition.

Place the ground beef in a bowl, add the crumbled sausage, finely chopped parsley and garlic, the grated Parmigiano cheese and the stale bread softened in water, squeezed and torn into pieces; then mix the ingredients with a wooden spoon.
When well combined, bind everything with a beaten egg, seasoned separately with a pinch of salt and a grind of pepper.
Shape the mixture into many small round meatballs using slightly wet hands.
At this point, pour a generous amount of olive oil into a pan, heat it and fry the meatballs over moderate heat for 4-5 minutes or until evenly golden.
When done, remove them from the pan with a slotted spoon and place them on a sheet of absorbent paper to remove excess oil.
Trim the onion, chop it with a mezzaluna (crescent knife) and sauté it in a saucepan with a couple of tablespoons of oil over moderate heat for about 5 minutes.
Add the peeled tomatoes passed through a sieve and season with salt.
