Mix all the dry ingredients
Make a well in the center and pour in the beaten egg
Mix well
Gradually pour in, stirring constantly, enough milk to form a rather thick batter
Spoon the batter in spoonfuls onto a hot buttered griddle or into a pan
Cook until golden on one side, then flip
Serve warm
