Sift the flour together with the grated ginger, baking powder, and baking soda into a bowl
Place the butter and syrup in a saucepan and heat gently until the butter has melted
Then add the molasses sugar and let it dissolve, stirring continuously with a wooden spoon
Remove the mixture from the heat, let it cool slightly, and add it to the flour, beating vigorously with a whisk to obtain a smooth and homogeneous dough
Heat the milk in the saucepan used for the butter and sugar, then incorporate it into the dough, finally adding the orange juice and zest and the beaten eggs
Transfer the mixture into a greased and floured 20 cm square baking pan and bake in a preheated oven (160 degrees) for about 1 hour and 40 minutes
Once done, remove the cake from the oven, let it cool in the pan, then turn it out and cut it into 16 cubes
