The classic apple cake, soft and rich in flavor, perfect for breakfast or a snack.
Start the preparation of the apple cake by beating the butter together with the granulated sugar in a bowl until you obtain a frothy mixture.
Add the eggs, one at a time, the milk, and the lemon zest. Mix well after each addition.
Add the sifted flour and baking powder, then mix with a spatula to combine. Also add a pinch of salt.
Peel the apples, cut them into not too large cubes, and add them to the batter, mixing carefully. Place everything inside a 24 cm diameter circular springform pan, properly buttered and floured, leveling well with a spoon.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the cake comes out dry. Remove from the oven and let cool completely before removing from the pan. Serve the apple cake dusted, if desired, with powdered sugar.
Store in a cool place under a glass dome for 1-2 days.
