Tomatoes and zucchini au gratin are a delicious and colorful side dish, perfect for accompanying meat or fish dishes. The combination of sweet tomatoes and fresh zucchini creates a contrast of flavors that blends harmoniously with the addition of aromatic basil and crunchy breadcrumbs. This dish is simple to prepare but offers a rich and inviting taste. Try it and delight your guests!
Wash the tomatoes, dry them, and cut them into medium-thick slices, removing most of the seeds and the water from the vegetation at the same time
Put a couple of tablespoons of oil in a large saucepan, heat it, then line the bottom with the tomatoes in a single layer, lightly salt and pepper them, and let them brown for 3-4 minutes on each side
Then remove the tomatoes from the heat and keep them warm on a plate
Put another two tablespoons of oil in the saucepan and brown the well-cleaned and sliced zucchini for 5-6 minutes over moderate heat, then sprinkle them with the necessary salt, a grind of pepper, and finely chopped basil
After that, take a suitably sized baking dish and arrange the tomato slices on the bottom
