Tufahije is a traditional Bosnian dessert made of cooked apples filled with a walnut and whipped cream mixture. It is a rich and tasty dessert, perfect to enjoy after a hearty meal.
Prepare a syrup by cooking the sugar with two glasses of water, lemon zest, and vanilla for about ten minutes.
Wash and peel the apples, remove the core, then cook them in the syrup for about ten minutes, being careful not to let them become too soft.
Drain them, let them set, and fill them with chopped nuts mixed with half of the cream.
Place the apples in individual bowls, drizzle with the cooking syrup, and cover with the remaining cream.
