The book: "Acabar," in Spanish, means to finish. And in Sardinian "accabadora" is she who finishes. In the eyes of the community, her act is not that of a murderer, but the loving and compassionate gesture of one who helps destiny to be fulfilled. She is the last mother. The author: Michela Murgia (Cabras 1972 - Rome 2023), an intellectual, activist, and writer, is translated into over twenty-five countries, across three continents, and has received numerous awards - including the Campiello, the SuperMondello, and the Knight of Arts and Letters from the French Ministry of Culture. After having held various jobs (often precarious), she debuted in 2006 with Il mondo deve sapere, which inspired Paolo Virzì's film Tutta la vita davanti. For Einaudi, she published: Viaggio in Sardegna (2008), Accabadora (2009), Ave Mary (2011), L'incontro (2012), Chirù (2015), Futuro interiore (2016), Istruzioni per diventare fascisti (2018), Stai zitta (2021), and God Save the Queer (2022). With Chiara Tagliaferri, she wrote Morgana. Storie di ragazze che tua madre non approverebbe (Mondadori, 2019) and Morgana. L'uomo ricco sono io (Mondadori, 2021), inspired by the cult podcast of the same name for storielibere.fm. She also wrote the literary memoir L'inferno è una buona memoria (Marsilio, 2018), the children's book Noi siamo tempesta (Salani, 2019), and the stories that form the novel Tre ciotole. Rituali per un anno di crisi (Mondadori, 2023). Her voice has inspired and influenced the debate on crucial themes of the present and future also through radio and television programs, speeches in squares and bookstores, countless contributions in newspapers, magazines, and social media.
