This variety was already recognized in the mid-19th century as one of the most typical and representative of the original varieties of Friuli. It is certainly a very ancient grape variety, once very widespread, and we even find it described in Acerbi's "Vitigni friulani udinesi". It is an emphatically dry, robust wine, with a broad and fresh aroma, featuring a bouquet with strong accents of apple, pear, nectarine, and apricot, with a dry, tannic taste that gives an almond-like finish with hints of wildflowers.
