Bronte D.O.P Shelled Pistachio. Our Bronte D.O.P Shelled Pistachio is irresistible! With its unmistakable color and aroma! It can be consumed without any further cooking or processing, as a snack or appetizer, but thanks to its aroma and quality, it has always been a key element of Sicilian pastry and cuisine in general. It is traditionally used by pastry chefs in the city of Bronte as an ingredient for ice creams, pastries, creams, and liqueurs, or the tasty "pistachio cake" with sponge cake filled with chocolate. It is also a star in first and second courses, increasingly popular on restaurant menus. Characteristics: Natural product, sun-dried, obtained from the shelling of the last harvest. Certified for compliance with the D.O.P. specification. Analysis on aflatoxins, yeasts, molds, and bacterial load. Absence of foreign bodies and impurities. Sensory Characteristics: fruit with a green color covered by a skin tending to violet, distinctive strong flavor of Etna products. Properties: In addition to the uniform green color and pronounced aroma, the Bronte DOP Green Pistachio owes its peculiarity to numerous nutritional properties: it contains vitamin A and is rich in iron, phosphorus, and phenolic substances, elements that promote the strengthening of defenses and well-being of the organism. Plant: The plant of our Bronte D.O.P Pistachio is very resistant to drought; it is a long-lived plant that lives between 200 and 300 years. It has very slow growth and can only produce after about ten years from its grafting. It blooms between April and May. The seed is unique and elongated, light green in color, rich in oil and protein. Harvesting of the fruits is biennial and takes place in odd years, between the end of August and the beginning of September, by hand, dropping the fruits into a container carried on the shoulder or with the aid of tarpaulins or nets. It follows the phase of removal of the hull, peeling, and sun-drying for several days. Buy our Bronte D.O.P Pistachio at www.emporiosicilia.it and you won't regret it!
