The winery is located in Rians, Provence. The story of Chateau Pigoudet is fascinating, born from two deep loves: that between two people and that for a place. In 1992, German entrepreneur Bernhard Schmidt and his wife Elke decided to make their dream come true by purchasing this estate, driven by a genuine passion. After the husband's passing, Elke Schmidt personally led the winery, supported by her children and an experienced staff that includes Daniel Laugier, in charge of the vineyards and production, and Marcel Fritsch, responsible for global wine promotion. The wide range of white, red, and rosé wines stands out for a style that evokes exotic and citrus notes, combined with herbaceous and lavender notes typical of the Provençal inland atmosphere. This rosé wine is, for us at Perlage, probably the best rosé wine our experts have ever tasted, a unique experience in its kind, an emblem that speaks volumes about the nobility of rosé wines if crafted with extreme finesse and highly skilled artisanal techniques. The soil composition consists of a pebbly-clay-limestone substrate, with uniform depth, excellent drainage and filtration properties, all facing south. The grape composition includes 40% Syrah, 40% Grenache, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. During the winemaking process, a meticulous selection of the finest plots is conducted. The grapes are subjected to direct pressing, followed by fermentation and vinification in barrels for six months with regular batonnage, aimed at preserving the primary aromas. The final product is bottled using advanced high-tech bottling techniques.
