The Smoky beer from Birrificio Magis is a Smoked Sweet Stout of the English tradition: dark, sweet, full-bodied, with a roasted aftertaste reminiscent of the aroma of a good sweet espresso coffee. This Sweet Stout is a high-fermentation craft beer, unfiltered, unpasteurized, characterized, as the name suggests, by a distinct smoky flavor. Smoked Sweet Stout Beer: The Charm of the Dark Attire Sweet Stouts have a fairly recent and very particular history: they are indeed high-fermentation English stouts that emerged in the 1900s as a tonic for convalescents or intended for nursing mothers. This is because the nourishment of this beer is full of properties and organoleptic characteristics. Besides all this, we are talking about a smoked beer: to make it, the brewer uses malt smoked with fine woods before fermentation. Main characteristics of Sweet Stouts: very dark color (like Guinness, which is also a stout), visually resembling coffee with cream, aromas of cereal and chocolate, roasted taste initially sweet and then bitter, creamy body, and carbonation (the bubbles, which in wine jargon would be the "perlage") almost absent or in any case low. Smoky: the awards won Birrificio Magis is very young, but this beer has already distinguished itself for its quality at the Palio dei Birrifici di San Martino dall’Argine (MN), where it was awarded the first special prize 2019 Style Porter & Stout.
