They look like popcorn, but they're peas! It seems like magic, but it's actually a very simple recipe to make a savory snack at home, perfect for a snack or an aperitif: crispy baked peas. You can prepare them with either frozen peas (as I did) or canned ones, making sure to drain and dry them well. Another important trick is to let the peas cool after baking: they become truly crispy only after cooling. Let's prepare them together!
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Cook the peas for 2 minutes in the microwave or steam them to ensure they don't absorb water.
Place them in a bowl and add all the other ingredients.
Mix with a spoon to coat the peas evenly.
Spread them on a non-stick baking sheet in a single layer (without parchment paper, so they become crispier).
Bake and let cook for 25 minutes.
Remove from the oven and let cool before enjoying.
Crispy baked peas can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days, but I recommend enjoying them freshly made as they lose their crispiness over time.
