Chicken fricassee is a typical Bulgarian dish characterized by a rich and spicy flavor. The chicken is slowly cooked in a sauce made of onions, tomatoes, and meat broth, enriched with walnut kernels and paprika. A delicious main course perfect for enjoying during cold winter evenings.
Clean a 1200 g chicken, cut it into small pieces, season with salt and pepper, flour it, and brown it in butter and oil until golden
Add 1 chopped onion and 2 tablespoons of tomato paste diluted in a little meat broth
Mix well and then dilute with 1 cup of broth
Add 1 cup of chopped walnut kernels and 1 cup of broth
Cook over low heat for 1 hour, season with 1 tablespoon of paprika, stir and serve
