Celery gratin is a delicious and flavorful side dish, perfect for enriching your meals. This recipe uses celery, Gruyère cheese, butter, chopped onion, ham, and meat extract. Once prepared, the celery is baked until it reaches a soft and golden consistency, while the cheese melts, forming a tasty crust. This gratin dish is ideal to serve with roasts and grilled meats.
Remove the outer hard stalks from the celery and cut off the base, discarding the outer tough stalks and removing the strings.
Cut the stalks into pieces of about 10 cm.
Wash the celery thoroughly in cold water.
Immerse them in a pot of boiling water and boil for a few minutes.
Drain them, rinse under cold water, and dry them.
In a pan, melt a knob of butter, then add the chopped onion and the diced ham.
Sauté, then add the celery and let it absorb the flavors.
Season with salt and pepper, then add a ladle of water in which you have dissolved a pinch of meat extract.
Cover, reduce the heat, and let it finish cooking.
Transfer them to a baking dish, sprinkle with cheese, drizzle with melted butter, and gratin for a few minutes.
