Meatballs in Tomato Sauce are a traditional dish of Italian cuisine, particularly popular in Southern Italy. The meatballs, made with ground meat, stale bread, Parmigiano or Pecorino cheese, garlic and parsley, are cooked in a delicious tomato sauce enriched with basil. The meatballs are succulent, aromatic and perfect to serve as an appetizer or a main course.

Remove the crust from the bread and soak it in water or milk; squeeze it well and add it to the meat, the eggs, the grated cheese, the very finely chopped garlic, and the parsley.
Add salt and pepper and mix. Meanwhile prepare a tomato sauce with onion and basil. Fry the meatballs in plenty of oil and place them in a rather shallow dish covered with the sauce, which should be fairly liquid.
Let the meatballs simmer in the tomato over low heat for 10-15 minutes; the sauce will thicken to the right consistency.
Garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve hot and enjoy!
