Black almond milk
Almond milk is a typical Sicilian product made with almonds of the Pizzuta di Avola variety. It is a base for non-alcoholic beverages, highly appreciated in summer. It is served chilled. Today, the company Cosaruci offers a preparation to easily and conveniently make almond milk at home. Made with only natural products, without preservatives and colorants, this variant features 100% almonds including the dark-colored skin. On the palate, the beverage has a pleasantly grainy texture due to the presence of finely ground almonds. Almond milk is made from Pizzuta d'Avola almonds, a native variety originating from Avola, also used for the production of sugared almonds, and is part of the Slow Food presidium. It is a very aromatic almond with good consistency, and it also has excellent nutritional properties, being a source of unsaturated fats, polyphenols, vitamin E, and magnesium. This variant is richer with the concentrate obtained from unpeeled and toasted almonds. Pairings: Almond milk is suitable for any time of the day, excellent when consumed in the morning during breakfast, accompanied by a good homemade dessert. Storage: The expiration of the preparation is shown on the label. The beverage produced at home is recommended to be consumed within 2/3 days. Keep refrigerated. Processing: Cosaruci almond milk comes in a 500 ml format for beverage preparation. It is advisable to first mix the compound, heat it slightly if the almonds are layered, then pour about 20 cl of preparation into 1 liter of water, shake and dissolve well, then put the beverage in the fridge and consume. Before pouring the almond milk, stir to even out the product. The compound is prepared exclusively from almonds with skin, sugar, water, lemon peel, vanilla, and cinnamon. In this black variant, Cosaruci uses toasted almonds with skin. The procedure used by the company Cosaruci is simple: toasted almonds with skin are mixed with sugar and other natural ingredients, followed by bottling.
