Almond milk is a typical Sicilian product made with almonds of the Pizzuta di Avola variety. It is a base for non-alcoholic beverages, very appreciated in summer. It is served chilled. Today the company Cosaruci offers a preparation to easily and conveniently produce almond milk at home. Made with only natural products, without preservatives and colorants. On the palate, the drink has a pleasantly floury consistency given by the presence of finely chopped almonds. Almond milk is made from Pizzuta d'Avola almonds, an indigenous variety native to Avola, also used for the production of confetti. It is part of the Slow Food presidium and is a very aromatic almond with good consistency, excellent nutritional properties, a source of unsaturated fats, polyphenols, vitamin E, and magnesium. Pairings: almond milk is a product suitable for all times of the day, excellent consumed in the morning during breakfast, accompanied by a homemade sweet. For the preparation of the drink, it is advisable to first mix the compound, heat it slightly if the almonds are layered, then pour about 20 cl of preparation into 1 liter of water, shake and dissolve well. Put the drink in the fridge and consume. Before pouring the almond milk, stir to even out the product. The mixture is prepared exclusively from almonds, sugar, water, lemon peel, vanilla, and cinnamon. In this classic variant, Cosaruci uses previously peeled almonds.
