The Susumaniello, whose name comes from the dialectal term “somarello” or “donkey”, for its high productivity in the early years of the plant's life, has historical roots in the Salento area. Although it faced the risk of extinction, in recent decades it has experienced a revival thanks to the efforts of passionate winemakers and research institutions, which have recognized its unique enological potential.
