Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the fusilli until al dente following the time indicated on the package.
Drain the pasta, reserving a ladleful of the cooking water.
Transfer the fusilli to a pan or a large bowl and mix them with the pesto alla genovese. Add a little of the cooking water if necessary to make the sauce creamier and help it coat the pasta.
Place on plates, add a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and finish with a few fresh basil leaves.
