For those who don't know, Tastasale is essentially a mixture of minced pork meat seasoned generally with salt and black pepper. A typical product of Venetian cuisine, in the Venetian dialect its name Tastasal literally means "Taste" the "salt," so called because it originally consisted of a salami mixture that housewives in the countryside would taste before preparing the actual sausages. The Tastasale offered by Macelleria Fratton is made with their special recipe that has been passed down for 4 generations and is then vacuum-packed. Its texture is crumbly, with a fairly coarse grain, perfect for crumbling by hand and using in numerous culinary preparations.
