Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo Fontodi is a prestigious red wine produced in the heart of Tuscany, in one of the most renowned areas for wine production: Chianti Classico. The Chianti Classico territory extends between the provinces of Florence and Siena, in a hilly area characterized by calcareous and clay soils, with a mild climate ideal for vine cultivation. The Fontodi estate, located in Panzano, is a natural amphitheater facing south, which ensures excellent grape ripening. Vigna del Sorbo Fontodi is mainly produced from Sangiovese grapes, with a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon. These grapes are grown in vineyards with an average age of 30 years, with a density of 6,000 plants per hectare. The production process involves traditional vinification in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature, followed by maceration on the skins for about 3 weeks. The wine is then aged in French oak barriques for about 24 months, and subsequently rests in the bottle for at least 6 months before being released. The result is a wine of great structure and complexity, with an aromatic bouquet ranging from ripe red fruits to spices, with notes of tobacco and chocolate. On the palate, it is full, round, with soft tannins and a long, persistent finish. Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Vigna del Sorbo Fontodi pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses. It can be enjoyed immediately but also has great aging potential.
