Gravello Calabria Rosso IGT is a wine produced by the Librandi winery, one of the most renowned in Calabria. This wine is a perfect example of how the Calabrian territory, with its unique characteristics, can give rise to excellent products. The production area of Gravello is located in the Cirò zone, in the heart of Calabria. This region is characterized by a Mediterranean climate, with hot summers and mild winters, and predominantly clayey and calcareous soils, ideal for vine cultivation. The vineyards extend over gentle hills, a few kilometers from the sea, and enjoy excellent sun exposure. Gravello is a red wine obtained from a blend of Gaglioppo grapes, the most important native variety of Calabria, and Cabernet Sauvignon, an international variety that has perfectly adapted to this territory. The grape composition is about 60% Gaglioppo and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. The production process involves separate vinification of the two grape varieties. After manual harvesting, the grapes are destemmed and crushed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature. Subsequently, the wine is aged in French oak barriques for about 12 months. After aging in wood, the wine is blended and bottled, then rests in the bottle for an additional 6 months before being released. Gravello is a wine of great structure and complexity, with an aromatic bouquet ranging from ripe red fruits to spices, with notes of vanilla and cocoa. On the palate, it is warm, soft, and well balanced, with sweet tannins and a long persistence. Thanks to its structure, Gravello pairs perfectly with red meat dishes, game, and aged cheeses. It can be enjoyed immediately but also has excellent aging potential.
